Threema is engineered to minimize data storage on servers. Group memberships and contact lists are device-exclusive and never stored on our servers. Messages are deleted immediately after delivery. Local files are stored encrypted on your mobile device. This approach prevents the collection and misuse of your personal information, including metadata. Threema is fully compliant with European privacy regulations (GDPR).
ROCK-SOLID ENCRYPTION
Threema employs end-to-end encryption for all communication, including messages, voice and video calls, group chats, files, and status messages. Only the intended recipient can read your messages. Threema utilizes the trusted open-source NaCl cryptography library for encryption. Encryption keys are generated and securely stored on users' devices to prevent unauthorized access.
