Adventure, excitement, and laser thrills were what travelers anticipated when leaving Belém for Cotijuba, but they weren't prepared for the intense storms that had been battering the small island. This place, once dubbed "Ilha do Diabo" at the end of the rubber cycle, had experienced a massive rural exodus and urbanization, coupled with a lack of infrastructure and high crime rates, prompting the government to build a prison there, effectively turning it into a Pará-style Alcatraz. Although years have passed, the ruins remain, still harboring the negative energies that linger.
The lively atmosphere in the small popopô, complete with loud music, drinks, and revelry, was shattered when the first young man suddenly plunged into the water without warning, terrifying his friends. The desperation intensified as a second girl silently walked to the edge of the boat and jumped in, followed by the others, all seemingly controlled by a malevolent force emanating sulfur.
