This weather application is not connected with NOAA or the National Weather Service. NOAA products are publicly available, and this app's utilization of those products complies with NOAA/NWS usage guidelines.
This app delivers forecasts, animated radar, hourly forecasts, and current conditions, all within a user-friendly and intuitive interface. You receive only the necessary information, provided accurately, quickly, and specific to your exact location.
This app employs NOAA point forecasts from your GPS location to provide the most localized weather data. Point forecasts are ideal for outdoor activities such as climbing, hiking, or skiing, where weather from a nearby city may not be precise enough.
Your phone's GPS will provide the most accurate location, but it's not always necessary. Nearby cell towers and Wi-Fi networks can also provide this information and will be checked first to save time and battery. You can also enter a location manually.
To provide highly localized forecasting, this app utilizes point forecasts from the National Weather Service (NOAA/NWS) and is only available in the US.
Severe weather alerts will be displayed at the top of the forecast. However, this app does not currently support severe weather alerts or notifications. NOAA offers this service directly through cell carriers. You can learn more about the service at https://www.weather.gov/wrn/wea.
Several differently sized widgets are available for your homescreen, providing basic weather information without the need to open the app.
Forecast discussion is accessible through the menu button.
Required Permission: Location
This app requires your location to provide the most accurate weather, which is essential to its functionality. You can also add manual locations if preferred.
Required Permission: Photos/Media/Files
This permission is necessary for Google Maps to cache map tiles for faster loading. It may seem like the app is accessing your photos or media, but it's not. The permission allows the app to access your files, but it doesn't mean they're being accessed. Contact the developer if you have further questions.
The non-simplified permissions listed in the Android manifest are:
android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION (location access)
android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE (check for network connection)
android.permission.INTERNET (download weather)
android.permission.VIBRATE (for zoom feedback on old radar)
android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Photos/Media/Files)
com.google.android.providers.gsf.permission.READ_GSERVICES (required by Google Maps)
