The world has been plunged into darkness. In the Midgard wilderness, the dead roam freely in broad daylight. The river water is undrinkable, Valkyries no longer escort the fallen to Valhalla, and something ominous lurks in the shadows of forests and canyons. The goddess Hel is responsible for this darkness, having cursed the land with her black magic in just 15 days, and now seeks to enslave the kingdom of the living.
Death is no longer a threat. You are an immortal, fearless Jarl of the northern warriors, who no longer face death. Healers and shamans are perplexed, unable to comprehend the reason behind this phenomenon. With the path to Valhalla closed, the only option is to arm yourself and send the creatures of darkness back to Helheim.
No one stands alone. Frostborn is a co-op survival game with MMORPG elements, where you can team up with other Vikings to build a strong base, confront the creatures lurking in the shadows and in the gods' shrines, and engage in battles with other players during raids and random encounters in various locations and dungeons.
Choose your warrior style. Select from over a dozen RPG-style classes that suit your preferences. Do you prefer heavy armor and close combat? Choose from Protector, Berserk, or Thrasher. Do you prefer to keep a distance and attack from afar? Pathfinder, Sharpshooter, or Hunter are at your service. Or do you prefer to operate in the shadows and strike from behind? Try Bandit, Robber, or Assassin. There are many more options available.
Win by any means necessary. Trade with other players or ambush and assassinate them in the Midgard wilderness. Form alliances with other families and protect each other during raids, or betray their trust and reveal their secrets to others in exchange for resources. The old order is no more; only the strongest survive in these wild lands.
Pave your way to Valhalla. Utilize the crafting system to obtain everything you need to defeat the darkness created by Hel's black magic. Construct strong walls, craft delicious food, brew magic potions, and set deadly traps. Forge powerful weapons and legendary armor. If that's not enough, build your own drakkar to raid overseas kingdoms.
Build your own city. Construct strong walls, spacious houses, and artisan shops to rebuild and improve your city, and open its gates to visitors. However, be prepared for a long journey, as a great city cannot be built in 15 days. Collaborate with other Vikings and your city's inhabitants to fight for a place in the sun in a world ruled by black magic.
The underground world is dark. Explore the ancient sanctuaries of the gods - dungeons in the tradition of MMORPGs, battle the strongest dead and monsters that fear daylight, and obtain legendary artifacts to uncover the reason behind the gods' departure from this world.
